WA-NIGP 2024 Procurement Manager of the Year
Connie Wahl began her procurement career at the City of Spokane as a clerk then, due to her outstanding service, progressed to her current position as Senior Procurement Specialist. She manages a team of three procurement professionals who support around 30 City departments, with 300 staff requiring procurement training.
One of Connie’s outstanding accomplishments incudes spearheading, with the assistance of the Legal Department, a Small Works and Architectural and Engineering Roster programsfor the City. This project required the revision of the Spokane Municipal Code and established effective procedures for public works procurements. Connie was also instrumental as the City implemented the procurement module into Spokane’s financial management system. In fact, she is proud to be considered a City Ambassador where her certificate states “The City of Spokane recognizes Connie Wahl for outstanding dedication to the City of Spokane and exemplary work that helps build a better community for us all.”
In addition, Connie maintains professional certifications and often mentors others at work and in NIGP by sharing her experiences and body of procurement knowledge. She actively seeks out and coordinates educational opportunities for her agency employees and always encourages learning and commitment to procurement profession high ideals.
Connie leads others by staying actively involved in her procurement organizations. She is passionate about our profession and provides value to members by creating educational and networking opportunities. For our Chapter, Connie Wahl leads WA-NIGP’s Lunch & Learn Committee to define topics, locate speakers, then facilitates our outstanding monthly educational workshops. These Lunch & Learn presentations provide cost effective training and maximize professional development.
